FMCSA administrator nominated: Timing & expectations
On 25 March, 2025, Derek Barrs was nominated as the next administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. It may take a number of weeks for an U.S. Senate confirmation hearing and then it will take a few additional weeks for a new administrator to settle into the role. Therefore, it is likely there may not be any substantive changes at FMCSA or new rules until fall at the earliest.
