FMCSA administrator nominated: Timing & expectations
On March 25, 2025, Derek Barrs was nominated as the next administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. It may take a number of weeks for a U.S. Senate confirmation hearing, and then it will take a few additional weeks for a new administrator to settle into the role. Therefore, it is likely there may not be any substantive changes at FMCSA or new rules until fall at the earliest.
